Stress Management for Line Managers
2 days (ideally a week apart)
Line managers play a pivotal role in workplace stress management. There is evidence to suggest that the line manager-subordinate relationship is the most commonly reported cause of stress at work, and there is growing evidence to suggest that line manager behaviour can have a significant impact on the health of their staff.
Day one focuses on the importance of tackling personal stress. Day two focuses on delegate’s line management responsibility.
Course Outline
Day One
- the nature of stress and its effect on health, well being and performance.
- assessment of the individual’s stress levels, and identification of the sources of their stress
- biofeedback training
- practical, proactive and effective ways of reducing stress
- development of short term and long term coping strategies.
Day Two
- Stress and the law, including HSE Management Standards
- causes of stress at work
- the cost of stress to the organisation
- the benefits of creating a low-stress culture
- early identification of stress related problems
- their role in the risk assessment process
- management behaviours that reduce stress
